Description


Art(Raw)09 is an international juried competition open to all subjects and mediums,

sponsored by ifontis.com, aimed at stripping art down to its fundamental elements;

composition, technique, movement, line, shape, or use of color and light in relation to the

medium applied. Submitted piece(s) may fall anywhere along the spectrum of

artistic expression; chaotic/still, bright and saturated/monochromatic, significant/minimal,

expressive in tone/subtle, etc.

Art(Raw)09 is a carbon-friendly competition that is purely digital. No need to package

or mail your entries. Simply take a digital photo of the pieces you want to enter and upload.


Eligibility


This competition is open to all artists, age 17 and older. Open to all mediums except film,

video, motion animation and audio. Examples of acceptable mediums include painting,

printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, still animation, photography, glass, computer generated,

jewelry, drawing, textiles and mixed media. Submitted work must have been completed

in the last 2 years.


Prizes


The top 30 entries will be included in an online exhibition April 1, 2010 – May 30, 2010

and marketed to galleries for possible representation. The following prizes, totaling $7,000

USD, will be awarded from the top 30 by April 15, 2010:


Best in Show $3,000 USD

2nd Place $1,500 USD

3rd Place $750 USD

4th Place $500 USD

5th Place $250 USD

5 Honorable Mentions $100 each USD

 

Highest Voter Rating $500 USD


Commissions will not be charged by Ifontis for sales generated via the exhibition.

Sales generated by the online exhibit are arranged between the purchaser and the artist.

Artists included in the online exhibition will be asked to submit an artist statement, resume

and biography to be included as supplemental information.


Preparing your Images


All images must be in JPEG, GIFF or PNG file formats. The images should be at 300dpi,

a maximum of 1MB and under 800px on the longest side. Images should be in RBG or

Grayscale Color modes. Each file should be titled with the artist’s last name, title of the

work and date completed; for example, smith_untitled1_2009.jpeg. No spaces, capital

letters or symbols should be used.


Entry Fees


A non-refundable entry fee of $25 for up to 3 pieces of work. The fee must be submitted in

order to complete the entry process online through ifontis.com. One entry per artist.


Deadline


The entry deadline is 11:59pm EST January 31, 2010.

Ifontis reserves the right to postpone all dates listed until such a time that a viable number of

entrants are received to offer a well rounded exhibition. Entrants will be notified via email of

any changes in deadlines.


Judging Process


Art(Raw)09 encourages artists to develop and expand their critical skills by participating

in the judging process.  The first round of jurying will be open to artists who entered

work and invited industry professionals.  Registered jurors will rate each entry based on the

fundamental elements of art.  Peer critique will be open between February 1, 2010 and

February 28, 2010.  The top 250 rated pieces will be juried by three industry professionals

and the top 30 will be selected for the online exhibition. The prize winners will be chosen

out of the top 30.

Notification


Those accepted into the online exhibition will be notified via email by March 15, 2010.

Winners of the monetary prizes will be notified by April 1, 2010.


Copyright and Entry Terms


By submitting your work through Ifontis.com, the artist agrees to allow the work to be

reproduced digitally and in print form expressly for advertising and marketing purposes only

until January 1, 2011 without additional compensation. The artist retains all copyrights

afforded by US and International Copyright Law and will receive photo credit on the

reproduction.  All entrant information will be strictly confidential and not sold to a third party

without expressed written consent. Ifontis.com reserves the right to reject and remove any

entry that contains defamatory, obscene, or pornographic content, or that may be considered

a criminal offense or violate any law. Entry fees are non-refundable and will not be returned

for rejected or removed entries. In the event that the competition needs to be postponed for

more the three months or canceled, the entrant will be refunded the full entry fee.
